Patrick Swayze has not stopped receiving medical treatment for pancreatic cancer.

The National Enquirer claimed the actor quit chemotherapy sessions.

But a rep for Patrick, who has been married to wife Lisa Niemi for 33 years, insists it's ‘not true’.

'Patrick is continuing treatment,' the spokesperson tells Us Weekly.

Patrick Swayze ends his treatment

Cancer-stricken star Patrick Swayze has given up medical treatment.

The 56-year-old 'Dirty Dancing' actor - who was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer last year - reportedly abandoned chemotherapy and other treatment when doctors told him there was nothing they could do to stop the spread of his disease.

A family friend told the National Enquirer magazine: "There's nothing more doctors can do for him. We are down to the wire and the goal now is to keep Patrick comfortable.

"His condition is inoperable and they have stopped the chemo. He's still losing weight and he's very weak. He's taking morphine. That and the cigarettes seem to keep him functioning through the pain."

The actor, who recently said he was determined to fight his illness, was admitted to hospital with pneumonia earlier this month. He was released on January 16, but friends say the chest infection left the star weakened.

In a recent interview, Patrick spoke about his prognosis and his hopes for the future.
He said: "I'd say five years is wishful thinking. Two years seems likely if you're going to believe the statistics.

"There's more I want to do. Lots more. I want to last until they find a cure."

Actor is recovering well with antibiotics

Patrick Swayze says he is recovering well from pneumonia.

The actor, who has pancreatic cancer, was hospitalised last Friday.

He contacted his doctor after having a persistent cough.

‘It made me suspect there was a possibility of some kind of infection,' he says.
'I wanted to jump on it before it turned into a problem.

'As soon as I got home, I called my doctor and then went straight to the hospital and was immediately put on antibiotics.'

But Patrick, 56, is confident he'll be back on his feet soon.

'I am alive and plan on continuing to stay that way,' he tells People. 'I don’t plan on being in the hospital long. I am almost in the clear now.’

Patrick Swayze has pneumonia and checked himself into the hospital

Patrick Swayze has pneumonia and has checked himself into a hospital for observation, it was revealed Friday at a press event for the Television Critics Association in Los Angeles.

"As we arrived here this morning we have some news," said A&E president Abbe Raven. "Patrick Swayze has checked himself into the hospital. However, he asked us specifically to go forward with today's panel. We wish him the very best with his recovery."

Bob DeBitetto, the president and general manager of A&E, delivered the news that Swayze had decided to check himself into the hospital after he came down with pneumonia.

Swayze, who is battling pancreatic cancer, had been expected to discuss his new show, The Beast, scheduled to begin airing Jan. 15.

'He's still fighting'
"Patrick is undergoing treatment and he's still fighting," a source close to the star tells PEOPLE. "He felt so bad that he couldn't be at the TCAs. He's fighting and doing well, and that's all anybody can hope for at this stage. He is not at death's door. Nobody ever knows with cancer, but he's doing alright. As soon as he's out, he's going to try to reschedule as much as he can.

Adds another source close to the situation, "He knows he's not a miracle. There's only so much he can do. He needs to take care of himself, so he checked himself in to get the help he needs."

During an interview that aired Wednesday on ABC, the actor told Barbara Walters that his road has been difficult. "You can bet that I'm going through hell," he said. "And I've only seen the beginning of it."

Swayze, 56, who went public with his diagnosis last March, said the disease has taken an emotional toll. "There's a lot of fear here," he said. "Yeah, I'm scared. Yeah, I'm angry. Yeah, I'm [asking], why me."

Despite his difficult year battling cancer, Swayze is still looking ahead. "I keep dreaming of a future, a future with a long and healthy life," he said, "not lived in the shadow of cancer, but in the light."

Colleagues Praise Patrick
At the TCA event in L.A., Swayze's colleagues on the show opened up about the actor's personal struggle. "[He's] been an absolute inspiration, he's an amazing guy," said costar Travis Fimmel. "He makes the little things seem not important."

Bill Rotko, creator of The Beast, said: "Although you forget sometimes that Patrick's going through treatment for cancer, it brings you very close together. There's a tremendous amount of respect going on."

Beast executive producer John Romano added that Swayze gives the show 100 percent. "He's bringing the force of his own personal struggle into the performance," he said. "He does it five days a week, 12 hours a day."

Several websites are reporting that actor Patrick Swayze's battle with pancreatic cancer is worsening.

Patrick recently got word that the cancer had spread to his liver and that is what his doctors said would begin the countdown to the end," a source told National Enquirer magazine.

If true, this is terrible news. Pancreatic cancer is one of the most aggressive and difficult-to-treat of all cancers. Long-term survivability is uncommon. I wish him and his family the best through this horrible time.

I thought Patrick Swayze was fantastic in Ghost and Dirty Dancing, although his most entertaining shoot ever may have been with Chris Farley on the Chippendales SNL segment...
